Class Descriptions

  • THE PIPING SKILLS CLASS

    Class fee is $85.00 per student

    1:00pm – 4:00pm on weekdays

    Piping skills used to decorate the custom cake will be a hands-on experience for all students.  You will leave with all the necessary information to go home and practice your newly learned skills. It is a great opportunity to ask all of your baking and decorating questions. Class size is limited due to the several piping skills exercises and the guidance given to each student.

    The perfectly frosted and smooth layer cake is a blank canvas for your buttercream piping decorations. A custom demonstration cake will have been made prior to your arrival. The class agenda is:

    ·      Hands-on piping skills exercises by students using multiple piping tips.  Techniques will include ruffles, ribbons, rosettes, shells, stars, zigzags and leaves

    ·      Demonstration of steps to frame, fill and frost a professionally smooth cake

    ·      Discussion on how to bake a great cake & the types of frosting

    ·      Learned techniques will then be applied to the one custom cake during the class

    ·      The class will conclude with a tasting of the custom baked and decorated cake

  • CAKE DECORATING 101

    Class fee $125 per student

    12:30-4:30pm on Saturdays

    You will be taught the foundations of how to decorate your very own professional looking cake. All cakes will be prepared prior to your arrival. We will focus on mastering basic skills and the proper technique in cake decorating, including:

    ·       How to properly fill and use a piping bag with a coupler

    ·       Filling your cake and crumb coating with a buttercream icing.

    ·       Applying a second coat for a beautifully smooth finish as a canvas for your decorations

    ·       Instruction on several piping techniques using multiple piping tips. Techniques include ruffles, rosettes, shells, stars, zigzags & ribbons

    ·       You will then apply the techniques to your own cake to create a masterpiece of your choosing.

    A portfolio of suggested decorations will be provided as a starting point to give ideas for your cake, but your imagination is the limit with your newly acquired skills. You will leave with your own personally decorated cake in a bakery box.

    Included is a vanilla cake & frosting consisting of ingredients similar to grocery store bakeries (Elevate your experience to a custom all-natural cake (several options), with Swiss meringue frosting for $150.00)

  • BUTTERCREAM FLOWERS

    Class fee is $125.00 per student

    1:00pm-4:00pm on weekdays

    Piping buttercream into lifelike flowers is a timeless cake decorating technique. 

    You will learn all of the proper tools and hand skills to build modern buttercream flowers layer by layer, as well as learning how to properly fill and use a piping bag with a coupler.

    When your flowers have been completed, you will arrange them on your own personal cake which was prepared for you prior to your arrival.

    Prior knowledge of piping skills or taking the piping skills class first is necessary.
